I'm going through major cheerleading withdrawal.
Everywhere I look I'm seeing cheer. This is probably making everything a million times worse.
After a bit of searching I managed to find the first episode of Cheer from CMT. Some awesome person uploaded it to Vimeo.
Cheer! Part 1/3 from Chris Hudson on Vimeo.
Click the video for the rest of the episode.
Not super thrilled with the series, the team doesn't seem to have any stand out "characters". This whole show is just strange. Last year Lifetime aired a two part pilot called Jersey Cheer. Same gym and team. Now Kelly Ripa has decided to slap her name on as producer and CMA picked it up. It probably only got picked up to try and compete with dance moms. Glad to see its airing though.
After finding a documentary online about "The Twinkles", World Cup's junior team I'm dying for more real life cheer docs.
The Twinkles: Chasing Perfection from Star-Ledger Video on Vimeo.
This is a super fun to watch documentary and really shows what the competition season is all about.
I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand more times,
I don't think I can live without cheer.
I also found this cheer special from CNN on Maddie Gardner

Only in Japan....
Anyone that reads my blog obviously knows some pretty strange things come out of Japan. I have way to much time on my hands. While searching MBOK, a Japanese auction site for cute SWIMMER brand items I found this.
It is a dog. It is a shelf. It is blinged. With big hair. It is fuzzy. IT IS A SHELF!
I don't care how much shipping would be. This thing is hilarious and a total conversation starter. Hideously cute. SOMEONE I live with does not agree however. I hope this puppy shelf finds a crazy awesome home.

One Teaspoon Flash Sale at The Volts !
One Teaspoon has a ton of stuff I've been dying to buy all summer. I wanted the black and cheetah print shorts more then I can describe. Sadly I still haven't been able to find them in my price range.
The Volts has some awesome stuff from the brand on sale right now. I noticed the prices for a dress were $20.00 cheaper then from Beyond the Rack. You can find it in the Duds From Down Under section. If your not a member, let me know if you want an invite! Leave your email in the comments and I'll delete it right after I see it.
If only they had my precious cheetah print shorts...

Pop Goes The World.. Toronto's Kpop/Jpop Night!
Since going to LA, I've been terribly frustrated with Toronto.
I love my city, I never thought I would feel any other way. I ended my trip in a way where I totally needed more time. It's kinda the worst feeling being back here knowing you NEED to be somewhere to try and make your life happen.
I haven't had much going on here. Searching for a job has been a nightmare and I've barley seen my friends.
Thankfully one night has kept me alive. I honestly don't know what I would do if there wasn't any POP GOES THE WORLD parties.
Basically, its a night of Kpop/Jpop videos. Thanks to the amazingness of these events I will never even attempt to go anywhere else. I could go on forever about why this is the best party in Toronto but here are my main reasons...
1. Dancing. Korean pop music is all about dancing. It's super hard to throw an event at a place like The Annex Wreck Room and get people on the floor. We come ready to for this event. Even when the lights come on, they have to physically shove us out.
2. The creeper ratio is like 1 in 20. That's actually amazing. If you go to a club its like 20 out of 21. Sure some strange people end up at Korean pop events but they tend to keep to them self. No one is over aggressively trying to rape you while you dance.
3. If someone IS creeping on you, you can kpop dance your way out of it. My friend Chanel did the Super Junior Dance to get away from a guy. It was possibly the funniest thing I have EVER seen.
4. Everyone instantly becomes some weird international family. At the SM Town concert, they had this big KPOP BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER movie they played. We all thought it was terribly corny. Then the Big Bang song Fantastic Baby came on last Friday. About 400 people were shouting the words and doing the dance. It was like this for so every super known song.
5. Crazy awesome mix of people. I made friends from Japan, Korea and China!
Be warned though, IT WAS HOT. Like get ready to get disgusting once you start dancing. My hair didn't really turn into much of an afro, that made me happy. Bangs in curly hair is like the most high maintenance thing you can do to yourself. I think it might have been because it just didn't get a chance to dry at all.
On the bright side, I burned the amount of calories I usually burn in a month in one night!
Really I can't do this event justice. Just come if your not creepy and at all interested in awesome Asian pop music.
They have a great event page where everyone is constatly requesting songs. Make sure you get yours in!

Thank you to my amazing friends for such an amazing night. I want to see you guys more often! I love the crap out of you.
Here are my pics from last Friday.. Boo the photographer didn't get a single one of me and my friends and we were dancing like crazy all night!

Canadian Club Mixed & Ready Cover Contest
Canadian Club just launched a new product called Mixed & Ready. To celebrate they are holding this super awesome cover contest. If you head over to www.facebook.com/canadianclubcanada you can choose between one of five Canadian songs to cover.
I really want to enter! I'm trying to decide if I should do Fat Lip by Sum41 or Steal My Sunshine by Len. If I can convince someone to play guitar for me I totally will! I don't know how either of them would sound acoustic though aha. Anyone have any ideas on how a solo singer like myself could enter?
The prize is unbelievable.. recording at Pocket Studios in Toronto and $3000! I can't even explain what I would do with that money for my music. If only I had a full band or could play proper guitar aha.
The best part of the competition is they have made voting fun. The voter prize is two $300.00 Ticketmaster Giftcards.
Matchstick is awesome and sent me a few cans of Mixed & Ready to tryout (thanks guys!). They taste amazing on a super hot day. I love premixed drinks, I'm not capable of such responsibility.
What have you guys been drinking this summer?

Ebay Gal Finds: Sakurina Fairylash Sets
Ageha model Sakurina deserves all the love she can get. She's a role model to a ton of gals for her original style. I haven't seen many gals try out her Fairylash line. I found it on ebay, $13.45 for four pairs!
check it out here... Sakurina Fairylash. Let me know if you end up trying or have tried them out.

I would love to try the third pair on the top as they look really unique. The bottom lashes look like they would be great though! I've just started to experiment with bottom lashes. It's not so hard with proper glue (the kind in a tube with a brush is so much better for it.)
Since I have an excuse to post some Sakurina spam, I'm going to.
Does anyone else think she looks different lately?

Aquamoist Makeup Base Review
I recently picked up the Aquamoist Makeup base. I mainly got it because the line is so similar to hadalabo's products, which are amazing. Juju cosmetic's Aquamoist line has some really great reviews as well so I figured they were worth trying out!
The Aquamoist makeup base is a primer product for anyone who hates the feel of makeup primers. I think everyone has a love hate relationship with the majority of primers available at the moment. Most available primers are packed with silicone that feel suffocating to skin. I'm not even convinced half of them work that well. I am confident in their ability to cause major breakouts though.
This Aquamoist product is more along the lines of the perfect moisturizer to prep your skin for makeup. It's great because it won't make skin oily and it will also smooth out dry skin for foundation to go on smoothly. My makeup seemed to last a bit longer and it for sure applied nicer. Totally worth it! Especially in this summer heat.

For your friend with crazy gyaru nails..

d.i.a Photo Spam..Get some DIY Inspo!
If there's one brand I can think of that isn't afraid to take risks, it's d.i.a. This gyaru brand really has established its own style, yet it doesn't always stick to it. A ton of things are over the top and cheap looking but this isn't anything new to the gal world. The best thing about d.i.a is even if you hate the majority of things you see there something for everyone. Chances are, that one thing you do end up liking you will fall in LOVE with. No one should have to do one style.
Since d.i.a doesn't have a webstore it's hard to buy online or find pictures sometimes. I decided to post some photos of the actual clothing I've found. It's good for d.i.y inspiration!!
